New Books Tab

· 2 min read

The new Books tab is laser-focused on one thing: making your reports more useful by letting you align how you see your catalog with how Book Report sees it. On the new tab, your books are displayed in a simple table. This table reflects the data that powers your reports; if anything looks amiss in a report, you can find and fix the issue here.

This update makes it quick and simple to:

  1. Manage duplicate versions of a book.
  2. Override automatically-detected book attributes.
  3. Archive old books that you don’t want to see anymore.
  4. Add custom columns for things we can’t detect automatically.

Those were the core use cases we had in mind while redesigning this tab. But we also made it a flexible tool, so that people could use it however it made the most sense for their business.

  • Do you publish translations in languages you don’t speak? You can override those book titles, so that Book Report shows the English title and includes the language of the translation in brackets.
  • Do you write multiple series that take place across fictional universes? You can add a “Universe” column, and break down your sales not just by series, but by universes of series.
  • Are you published wide, and slightly different subtitles have lead to duplicate books? This can now be fixed using simple drag-and-drop.
  • Did your business change, but you kept the same publishing accounts? You don’t need to keep seeing those old books you delisted long ago - it takes just a minute to archive them.

The new Books tab is now live. Try it out in your account, watch the 6-minute video walkthrough below, or read more about it in our updated User Guide.
